15 Mar A Few Totally Isolated Days in Nuqui, Colombia (No Internet for 3 days and I survived)
A few of us planned a different kind of relaxing trip to get out of the city again and head somewhere hopefully warm. Now that my home is Medellin for the month with its mostly spring like weather, lots of rainy days though, trips up to the northern part of Colombia just seems like the right thing to do. Nuqui happens to be in the west coast, Pacific side of Colombia. We took a 12 seat prop plane from Medellin’s small airport directly to Nuqui with a 45 minute boat ride to arrive at our isolated resort of sorts
The weather was challenging the first day with rain but the second day was beautiful and we went on a long walk through a Rain Forest to get to a couple of Mineral Pools. The second full day we went on a hike through the forest and also went swimming but this time in a small waterfalls which was really special. I would also say that I can not remember a time when I sweated more, my shirt was stuck to me all day on the hike. That same night we had a wonderful sunset to cap off our finest day of the trip. The food was amazing to say the least. Every meal we waited for the bell to ring so we could eat. Both lunches and dinners were fish prepared like someone’s grandmother cooked it with love just for us. There were four other cabins taken by two couples (both from Germany), two brothers from Medellin and a single woman who was a writer.
I planned on staying a bit in Medellin and roam around the city for a few upcoming days but may just run away to a beach next week. I plan on going to San Andreas off the coast of Panama and “Casa En El Agua” the end of the month which is a crazy island off the coast of Colombia (wait till you see those photos).
