As I take my 7th train in 2.5 weeks to Cinque Terre from Genoa (Genova) I realize how much weather plays a role in my happiness as a traveler and I think as a person. I’ve had some really terrible weather recently and I was very depressed and upset all of the time and I feel it is because of the weather. This also happened earlier in the year in January when I was in Hanoi where it was so much colder that I thought it would be. I enjoyed Hanoi but I know it would have so...

Don't forget to Follow me on Instagram @richardsilverphoto Go to my website www.richardsilverphoto.com It is late January and most of the group has gone our separate ways for a while already. Many people went to Bali, why not, it's Bali and beautiful and easy to stay there. Some people went back to their respected homes, some went to Mexico, New Zealand and Europe. Me, I am in Vietnam for the month of January. A group of us discussed back in November heading to Vietnam in the north to start in Hanoi and then head down south, they all left, I committed to...

Having finished traveling through Southeast Asia in the warm weather we are all now in Kyoto in the winter. (PS-I am not in Bangkok like my Map says-apparently it is broken as I am in Kyoto) This is our month 12, the last month we are all traveling together and there are so many gatherings we have done and are still doing. It is Christmas Day here in Kyoto and we had a huge dinner with 40 of us yesterday for Christmas Eve. Last night we stayed in a hostel for the night so we could all be together for...

So where did we leave off? Oh yeah, I was heading to Bali to visit my friend Eddie and his wife in Densapar, Bali. He moved there about 5/6 years ago because he gave up on the BS of New York and wanted to live life easier, he has succeeded. He is 59 and his Balinese wife is just 23, yup, 23. They are happy and I was very glad to be able to stay with them for a few days and scooter around Bali (which is so damn busy). From Bali I went back to Kuala Lumpur to pick...

I am currently in Barcelona working on my sort of fixed computer. At this point in time I am unable to work on any of my photos because Lightroom and Photoshop just do not work on my broken/fixed for the 4th time this year Dell laptop. Keeping up with my photos is one thing that I have been proud of when it comes to my time management but this has been a total nightmare. Anyone who has experienced computer issues let alone traveling on the road for 9 months and two computers both new and both crashing a number of...

I hit Prague running as I always do if the opportunity arises for me to see a city on arrival day. Of course I have been to Prague before, once back in the 1990's and also in 2015 for the "Signal Light Festival". This time is different for so many reasons. First of all I am traveling with a huge group of people who I know, I had a visitor from NY come to hang with me for a week, Stacey (I will talk about that shortly) and I am here in the summer when the weather is amazing. From...

I just got back from a four day side trip to Rio de Janeiro with some other Meraki's to catch some last chance sun and do a helicopter over Rio too. Buenos Aires and Argentina was cold so Rio was a great move and the right way to leave the continent. Also met up with a very sweet new friend from Bolivia which made the trip more special. As I boarded my plane for the end of my first half of my trip I can't help but wonder what the next six months has in store for me. South America...

Back in 2005 I came to Buenos Aires in January when the weather was absolutely beautiful and warm. Now I am here and it is late fall/winter and it is chilly and I can not get over this damn cold. Myself and a number of other travelers from my group have all been sick since Bogota in February and we call it the "Meraki Cough" (Meraki is the name of our Group in Remote Year) and it just came back to haunt us again. This time around I have lots of time to walk around and explore a much larger...

Even though I have been to Buenos Aires before back in 2005 it seems like a lifetime ago. I do not remember this city being so large, maybe because I have been to so many smaller cities on this trip (except Mexico City) it is an illusion. The building and apartment I am staying in is by far the best yet. The set up here is also great because the building itself has 43 of us, like we took over the place. It is a converted hotel into apartments in the Palermo neighborhood. As usual I have been running around...
