FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM @RICHARDSILVERPHOTO I am currently in Paros, Greece in a house run by Remote Year called a "Citizen House". This is where multiple Remote Year alumni get together outside of a RY program with other citizens (people who have completed a RY program become citizens) to hang out and party somewhere in the world. For Paros, the location is a three week getaway but I am only here for two of the three weeks. There are about 25 people in the Villas, three villas in total, on the same property, pretty close to what we would need on the...

FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM @RICHARDSILVERPHOTO I just got back from 9 days in Cuba which was amazing. This was my second time but last time I only went to Havana for four days, this time I went to see Havana, Ceinfuegos, Vinales and Trinidad. The trip was a tour that was with Cuban Adventures which I highly recommend for anyone thinking of heading there. The tour guide Yenni was so sweet, informative and just made the trip a wonderful experience. This was a last minute trip before my next trip with Remote Year which starts for me on December...

FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM @richardsilverphoto Going to New York as a visitor is kind of a difficult thing for me to wrap my head around. This was my 2nd time in NY visiting and staying at other peoples apt's, homes, couches and extra bedrooms. When I did it for July 4th week I stayed in Battery Park city at my friend Pat's apartment. I did appreciate all of the new completed construction, new shopping areas along with so many new restaurants. She also lives close to the World Trade Center site so I was able to see the finished Oculus built by...

So where did we leave off? Oh yeah, I was heading to Bali to visit my friend Eddie and his wife in Densapar, Bali. He moved there about 5/6 years ago because he gave up on the BS of New York and wanted to live life easier, he has succeeded. He is 59 and his Balinese wife is just 23, yup, 23. They are happy and I was very glad to be able to stay with them for a few days and scooter around Bali (which is so damn busy). From Bali I went back to Kuala Lumpur to pick...

Belgrade is hot! Really hot! Everyday it's over 100 degrees. The city doesn't have as much architecture for me to shoot as I was expecting but it does have a few nice churches in Orthodox style painting and mosaics. Food has been fine and the night life is active also. There aren't many Meraki's here as most are traveling and in Croatia and we lost six people this week who dropped out of the program. We started with 77 people and supposedly we are now at only 56. There were a few people that surprised me that have left and...

As we start on month four, a full quarter of my trip completed so quickly, we arrived in Lima, Peru. I've been to Lima two times in the past. Once in 2015 for three days after I went to Iquitos for a week (The Amazon of Peru) and also in 2010 when I went to Machu Picchu with my ex-girlfriend. I really don't remember the weather being so beautiful and having such wonderful beaches. My apartment is situated half a block from the water in Miraflores a beachfront neighborhood. Back in February most of us met up to decide when...

Back to Medellin after a couple of long two weeks of traveling around Colombia. When I returned to Medellin from Nuqui (another remote beach) I knew I had over 11 days to be here but knowing myself I couldn't stay put for that long. I decided to do a quick two days to San Andes Island and I'm so glad I did. Going myself and the two days also turned out to be the right amount of time. [caption id="attachment_2273" align="aligncenter" width="600"] (San Andres is the Red Dot on the Map)[/caption] San Andres is an island that is part of Colombia but...

My friend John who works in Real Estate in New York called me to let me know that he will be heading to Cartagena Feb 2-6th so I decided to fly over from Bogota. The idea of being on a beach left me with no choice but to go. Many other Meraki Travelers in Remote Year are heading there at the end of the month but this was a good opportunity to party with some of my friends. Cartagena was fantastic! Cartagena has a real Caribbean feel to it, the people are darker in skin color than people from Bogota as...

Boynton Beach Florida is a real change from living in Manhattan, especially after being in NYC for 25 years you do get used to a few things. You never walk in Florida, you go from your home to your car, that's it. When you live in Manhattan you are always walking from place to place, taking subways or buses and always moving around. So this past weekend I went to see Art Basel in Miami, I love art shows and this was supposed to be the best of the best. My friend Marlena lives in South Beach, Miami so I stayed with...
