FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM @RICHARDSILVERPHOTO I am currently in Paros, Greece in a house run by Remote Year called a "Citizen House". This is where multiple Remote Year alumni get together outside of a RY program with other citizens (people who have completed a RY program become citizens) to hang out and party somewhere in the world. For Paros, the location is a three week getaway but I am only here for two of the three weeks. There are about 25 people in the Villas, three villas in total, on the same property, pretty close to what we would need on the...

FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM @RICHARDSILVERPHOTO So when we arrived in Lisbon on Saturday March 2nd it was Carnival there and we came in hot. About 20 of us went to this party at the Pestana Palace which had four massive rooms filled with people in masks and costumes and we were dressed for the occasion too. We didn't get home till 5:00AM. That was how Lisbon was , a rocking party town for all of us. OK it does have great food, really cool street art/graffiti, a good variety of architecture with a few special places I will show you in my...

FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM @RICHARDSILVERPHOTO Last time I posted I was still in Morocco, well I am now in Portugal in the Azores for a few days from Lisbon and the month is almost over. Lisbon is my home for the month of March. I said I was heading to Essaouira, Morocco which I did along with Agidar which is another Moroccan beach town. Just loved Essaouira, so relaxing a place after spending so much time in Marrakesh. I also enjoyed Marrakesh more than I thought I would, being in the Medina as much as I was turned out to be much...

FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM @richardsilverphoto Going to New York as a visitor is kind of a difficult thing for me to wrap my head around. This was my 2nd time in NY visiting and staying at other peoples apt's, homes, couches and extra bedrooms. When I did it for July 4th week I stayed in Battery Park city at my friend Pat's apartment. I did appreciate all of the new completed construction, new shopping areas along with so many new restaurants. She also lives close to the World Trade Center site so I was able to see the finished Oculus built by...

After traveling for 1.5 years I am finally back home in Florida. I was supposed to be in South America until May 21st but I decided to cut my trip short for some personal reasons. My original travel plans from London were first to Bolivia then to Sao Paulo. Bolivia was to meet a woman that I met in Argentina in May of 2017 (we also traveled together for 17 days through southeast Asia in November) but she is now in a serious relationship so there was no reason for me to go there. Sao Paulo was to visit my...

Belgrade is hot! Really hot! Everyday it's over 100 degrees. The city doesn't have as much architecture for me to shoot as I was expecting but it does have a few nice churches in Orthodox style painting and mosaics. Food has been fine and the night life is active also. There aren't many Meraki's here as most are traveling and in Croatia and we lost six people this week who dropped out of the program. We started with 77 people and supposedly we are now at only 56. There were a few people that surprised me that have left and...

I hit Prague running as I always do if the opportunity arises for me to see a city on arrival day. Of course I have been to Prague before, once back in the 1990's and also in 2015 for the "Signal Light Festival". This time is different for so many reasons. First of all I am traveling with a huge group of people who I know, I had a visitor from NY come to hang with me for a week, Stacey (I will talk about that shortly) and I am here in the summer when the weather is amazing. From...

I just got back from a four day side trip to Rio de Janeiro with some other Meraki's to catch some last chance sun and do a helicopter over Rio too. Buenos Aires and Argentina was cold so Rio was a great move and the right way to leave the continent. Also met up with a very sweet new friend from Bolivia which made the trip more special. As I boarded my plane for the end of my first half of my trip I can't help but wonder what the next six months has in store for me. South America...

Back in 2005 I came to Buenos Aires in January when the weather was absolutely beautiful and warm. Now I am here and it is late fall/winter and it is chilly and I can not get over this damn cold. Myself and a number of other travelers from my group have all been sick since Bogota in February and we call it the "Meraki Cough" (Meraki is the name of our Group in Remote Year) and it just came back to haunt us again. This time around I have lots of time to walk around and explore a much larger...
